After the Ceremony and Reception
The reception will
end around midnight but the ceremonies wont stop there! The ghar
gosoka will take place after the ceremony. This is when the bride
will set foot into the groom's home for the first time after they've been married.
The bride and groom will head for the groom's home accompanied by the bride's
brother, cousins, and close friends. The bride will participate in the ceremonial
activities in the groom's home and they will once again play some games with
the groom's family closeby. After seeking blessings from the Lord, the bride
along with her brother, cousins, and close friends will leave to return to her
own home. The groom remains in his own home that night.
The next day there
is not much activity in either home as everyone will be busy resting. We're
assuming that this will be the day when a lot of our out-of-town guests will
be stopping by to see us before they leave for the airports to return home.
Two days after the wedding, bride will be escorted with her brother and cousins
to the groom's home. This is the bidaai.
The bride throws rice over her shoulder as she leaves ensuring that prosperity,
while following her to her new home, does not abandon her old one.
Eight days after the wedding the aanth mongola takes place at the bride's parents home. This marks the day when the newlyweds visit the bride's parent's home for the first time after the wedding. Eight special dishes are prepared to honor this occasion.
